Stamp-a-faire tie-dye challenge

I tried Nichole Heady's tie-dye technique to make the flowers on these card boxes. I can't say I'm impressed with the result; I don't really think these flowers look tie-dyed; they didn't come out as I had imagined, but they're kind of cute all the same. (As I linked my post to the challenge link just now, I noticed that it's supposed to be a background.  Oh well.)

I used PTI's Front and Center die to cut out the panels (one set in Aqua Mist - embossed with a Texturz plate - and one in Ocean Tides) and various other PTI dies for the flowers.  I sponged the same color inks, plus a little Peach Parfait or Primrose Petals for the centers, and then used an aqua brush to swirl some water onto the sponged colors.  The little buttons are SU!'s Bitty Buttons, stitched onto the flowers with a bit of baker's twine, and the sentiment is from PTI's Pretty Peonies.

The leaves were cut using PTI's Turning a New Leaf die and "peace, love & flowers" is from PTI's Wildflower Garden.  The ribbons are also PTI:  grosgrain Ocean Tides and twill Aqua Mist.

Stamp-A-Faire offered a lot of new ideas, and it was fun to participate in one of the challenges.

Friends are the flowers

Just a quick post to add my entry to Papertrey Ink's weekly Make It Monday challenge. This week's tutorial was how to make a pocket card - simple but sweet.

I used PTI's Wildflower Garden with Versamark on Baja Breeze to create this easy but pretty card. A little Pear Pizzazz strip made with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon punch makes a nice contrasting accent.

This is one of the quickest cards I've made to date, especially for a challenge, but it's a nice result. I'll be sure to keep this style of card in mind the next time I need a card in a hurry!

Happy Birthday, Marjie!

My step-mother Marjie has a collection of porcelain teacups I always admired and that was my inspiration for her birthday card.  I first stamped the big tea cup from Tea Shoppe with Marina Mist, then I removed the color from the violets with a blender pen before coloring them in with my markers (Wisteria Wonder, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight) - same colors in the little violets.  The sentiment is from Petite Pairs and an Antique brad clasps the Marina Mist taffeta ribbon bow.  The lace doily edges were made with PTI's Edgers #2 die.

The inner white panel, also with the lace edge treatment, has this sentiment from PTI's Wildflower Garden stamp set and another little sprig of violets.  I love what it expresses and wish lovely dreams come true for my dear Marje.
